Bfriend

Bfriend is an LGBTIQA+ service within Uniting Communities. It offers various forms of support, including:

- One-on-one support and information
- Connection with volunteer peer mentors
- Assistance to connect with the LGBTIQA+ community
- Support for family and friends of LGBTIQA+ people
- Information for workers on how to support LGBTIQA+ people
- Workplace training

Bfriend is also responsible for managing the Adelaide LGBT Events website.

Catalyst Foundation


Catalyst Foundation, provides a range of services, including several projects that are specifically targeted towards the LGBTIQA+ community. This includes:


- The Rainbow Directory SA

- Monthly meetups for LGBTI people over 50

- Workplace training

- Toward a Safe Place LGBTIQA+ domestic violence resources

Centacare Drug and Alcohol Service


With a primary focus on supporting young people (30 or younger) around their substance use, CDAS can work with LGBTIQA+ people of any age. CDAS has an LGBTIQA+ peer worker who is an understanding member of the LGBTIQA+ community. 


Services include:


- Drug and alcohol counselling

- Support for family members

- In-home detox

- Information and education

- Health promotion

COTA SA


COTA offers two main options for older LGBTI people and people working in the aged care sector:


Rainbow Hub:  

A one-stop-shop for all the programs, services, events and activities COTA SA have which are particularly focused on the LGBTI community. See here for more information.

ECH LGBTI Connect


ECH LGBTI Connect provides culturally safe access, navigation, advocacy and connection to aged care services. It is run for, and by, LGBTI community members in South Australia.


ECH also offers the Rainbow Social Connections home visiting service for over-55 year-olds. If you’re interested in finding out more about the Rainbow Social Connections events or the LGBTI Volunteer Home Visiting Program (either as a volunteer or requesting a visit)  call ECH on 1300 275 324 or [email protected] or visit the ECH website.

 
 
 

Gender Connect Country SA


A free phone service within SHINE SA that supports trans, gender diverse and gender questioning people in country SA.


People supporting trans and gender diverse people, including professionals, are also welcome to access the service.

A service within SHINE SA that specifically supports transgender and gender diverse people, including:

Headspace

Headspace are a youth mental health service that operate throughout Australia. Headspace offices can be found in both metropolitan and regional South Australia, with various services being offered for people under the age of 25. Headspace provides various LGBTIQA+ specific supports, including counselling and social groups for young people. Types of LGBTIQA+ support can vary from site to site.

Our Place (Uniting Communities)


Uniting Communities offers counselling services which are LGBTIQA+ inclusive. Queer identifying counsellors are among the team, and the service previously offered an LGBTIQA+ youth specific counselling service called Our Place.


LGBTIQA+ people of any age are welcome to access the counselling service.

Parents of Gender Diverse Children


As the name suggests, PGDC is a group for parents and families of gender diverse children. They provide a chance for families to connect with one another, and can also provide information to professionals about how to support gender diverse children and their families.


While the group is operated nationally, the South Australian coordinators can be contacted directly via email.

QLife


QLife is a national LGBTIQA+ telephone and online counselling service. The service operates between 3pm and midnight daily and is staffed by LGBTIQA+ people.

SAMESH


SAMESH is a joint service run by SHINE SA in collaboration with Thorne Harbour Health (previously the Victorian AIDS Council). It provides specialist support, education and training about sexual health and HIV, as well as services to the broader LGBTIQA+ community.
