Bfriend

Bfriend is an LGBTIQ service within Uniting Communities. It offers various forms of support, including:
- One-on-one support and information
- Connection with volunteer peer mentors
- Assistance to connect with the LGBTIQ community
- Support for family and friends of LGBTIQ people
- Information for workers on how to support LGBTIQ people
- Workplace training

Bfriend is also responsible for managing the Adelaide LGBT Events website.

Catalyst Foundation


Previously known as the Seniors Information Service, the Catalyst Foundation provides information and support to older South Australians. They have an LGBTIQ worker who specifically supports this community and coordinates social events for LGBTIQ people 50 years and older every month.

Centacare Drug and Alcohol Service


CDAS is a drug and alcohol service based within Centacare. With a primary focus on supporting young people (30 or younger) around their substance use, CDAS can work with LGBTIQ people of any age. CDAS has an LGBTIQ peer worker who is an understanding member of the LGBTIQ community. Services include:

- Drug and alcohol counselling

- Support for family members

- In-home detox

- Information and education

- Health promotion

Gender Wellbeing Service (ShineSA)

A service within ShineSA that specifically supports transgender and gender diverse people, including:
- Peer support
- Telephone information and support
- Counselling

Headspace

Headspace are a youth mental health service that operate throughout Australia. Headspace offices can be found in both metropolitan and regional South Australia, with various services being offered for people under the age of 25. Headspace provides various LGBTIQ specific supports, including counselling and social groups for young people. Types of LGBTIQ support can vary from site to site.

Parents of Gender Diverse Children


As the name suggests, PGDC is a group for parents and families of gender diverse children. They provide a chance for families to connect with one another, and can also provide information to professionals about how to support gender diverse children and their families.


While the group is operated nationally, the South Australian coordinators can be contacted directly via email.

QLife


QLife is a national LGBTIQ telephone and online counselling service. The service operates between 3pm and midnight daily and is staffed by LGBTIQ people.

SAMESH


SAMESH is a joint service run by ShineSA in collaboration with the Victorian AIDS Council. It provides specialist support, education and training about sexual health and HIV, as well as services to the broader LGBTIQ community. Services include:

Skylight mental health services

Skylight (formerly the Mental Illness Fellowship of South Australia) provides various types of support for people with mental health issues. While all of these services are accessible to LGBTIQ people, they also have a specific Gender and Sexual Diversity worker and they host the Southern Youth Rainbow Space (see our youth events page for more information about this group).
